Upcoming exhibition Cinematographer in Lecce 31/03/2012

Inga Cholmogorova presents two most recent works: performance "In Her Room' (Amsterdam Edition 2012) and intervention performance "Beyond Form" during the 54th Venice Biennale (2011) during the CINEMATOGRAPHER VII International Festival of Video & Digital Cultures taking place at the Primo Piano LivinGallery in Lecce (Italy) March 31 - April 8, 2012

“In Her Room” (performance video, 6:44 min, Amsterdam 2012 in collaboration with Robin Haig)

Gina Hillberg is balancing on the edge of being a professional artist and an amateur human being, caught up in a struggle for success and recognition in the highly competitive art world. She is reaching her limit in climbing to the top after years of striving by imitating a male imposed way of being in the world, which demanded many sacrifices without any satisfactionary results. Human condition is the subject matter of the work, addressing the issues of public and private persona of the artist, investigating the concept of self and ego.

“Beyond Form” (performance video 11;19 min, Venice 2011 in collaboration with Alice De Ixime and Sara Bonaventura)

“Beyond Form” is an intervention performance as a continuation of the thought in the installation by Diohandi “Beyond Reform” at the Greek Pavilion during Venice Biennale.  An automatic habitual thinking and behaviour patterns imposed by the system and structures surrounding an individual from the very birth are hard to identify and even harder to crack open unless the very limit is reached. The transformation from what is known, culturally programmed or Human to that of Being, free from gender, race, age, nationality, etc. is a painful and solitary activity. What lies beyond? What would it be like to arrive on the other shore and encounter others in freedom and love?

Both works will be screened for the first time at the Primo Piano LivinGallery in Lecce (Italy)  March 31 - April 8, 2012.
