info: http://www.tenri-paris.com/art/spectacle.html
Synopsis: ”Form is
emptiness, emptiness is form”
Human condition is the main subject matter of this work,
questioning the concept of freedom. Combining the techniques of the traditional
Japanese Noh theatre and the avangarde-dance butoh, Sakurako invites the
audience to follow the heroine on this intimate voyage to experience the moment
in now and here. The title “Banzai!” is a traditional
Japanese exclamation meaning “ten thousand years” also translates "Long
life!" or "Hurrah!" and is the celebration of the
spiritual freedom found within the strict choreography of Noh and with the contemporary butoh dance, not
bound by any form, except the
limitations of the body.
« Banzaï »
« La forme est le vide, le vide est la forme »
Par la rencontre des techniques du théâtre japonais
traditionnel Nô et de la danse d’avant-garde butô, Sakurako invite le public à
suivre le périple intime de son héroïne au travers de l’expérience du moment
“Ici et Maintenant”.

Body Koan is an ongoing series of photography ivestigating
interrelated and constantly changing body/mind/spirit phenomenon. The human
condition is the subject matter of the works. Using the dancers (usually butoh
dancers she works with as a choreographer) as the models, as well as her body
and photography as a medium she explores the different ways of looking and
seeing the human body, finding the different aesthetics, when even uncanny
becomes beautiful, revealing the potential and limitations of the human body.
A kōan is a story, dialogue, question, or statement, which is
used in Zen practice to provoke the "great doubt" and test a
student's progress in Zen practice.
